The bifurcation of the state is needed for the prosperous and balanced growth of Andhra Pradesh, stated Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) state president Bandaru Dattatreya.

Addressing a ‘meet-the-press’ programme organized here on Saturday, he said the BJP would not give much importance to the B N Srikrishna Committee’s terms of reference as they are not in favour of Telangana state formation.

The BJP favours a division of the state in order to help its growth, economically and industrially, he pointed out. He said the party would expose the games of Congress and Telugu Desam on the Telangana issue.

He demanded the immediate resignation of the Telangana people’s representatives to submit their resignations immediately protesting the ‘terms of reference’.

He urged the Telangana Joint Action Committee to mount pressure on the Centre to introduce separate Telangana Bill in the parliament in the Budget session itself.
