The Justice Srikrishna Committee will soon make its first visit to Hyderabad to elicit the opinion of the cross-section of people on the prevailing situation in Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to media persons after its maiden meeting at Vigyan Bhavan here, Justice Srikrishna said the committee members had chalked out their plans to be adopted in the aftermath of spelling out its terms of reference. Shrugging off the large-scale protests erupted across Telangana region on Saturday in the wake of the Friday’s Central announcement of the terms of reference of the panel, Justice Srikrishna said “We will do our duty and complete our task within the stipulated time.”

The committee chairman recalled that he had the track record of submitting reports within the given time frame of every panel that he headed.  “The report on this committee will be submitted by the deadline of December 31,” he explained.

Maintaining that the office of the committee will be located only in New Delhi, Justice Srikrishna said the members will be visiting periodically to various parts of Andhra Pradesh and take the help of the local administration for interpreters and other needed assistance. Asked when the panel will be visiting Hyderabad, he replied ‘very soon’. “We will make a quick visit to Hyderabad very soon,” he added.

The panel members will meet all sections of people on matters mentioned in the terms of reference. Seeking the media cooperation for the completion of the task on schedule, Justice Srikrishna said the panel members will give periodical briefings to the Press on the progress made by the committee. “The Next media briefing will be on February 25,” he added.

The committee under the chairmanship of Justice Srikrishna had a three-hour-long deliberation on the policy to be adopted when it visits Andhra Pradesh.
