The bandh called by Students Joint Action Committee for Telangana against Srikrishna Committee’s terms of reference evoked partial response in the district onSaturday. A few traders closed their shops and businessestablishments in the towns. 

The APSRTC also operated bus services to all parts of the district. The banks and insurance companies functioned as usual and the cinema theatres continued their shows as usual.

Employees of Kothagudem Thermal Power Station

boycotted their duties. Production was disrupted at the power plants. The activists led by JAC staged a rasta-roko and raised slogans at Mayuri Junction. The traffic was disrupted due to the agitation. The police intervened and arrested them. 

Protesting against the arrests, women activists stopped the police vehicle in which the activists were being shifted. Khammam district JAC convener Kanakachary saidthe terms of reference of Srikrishna committee were againstthe spirit of the Dec 9 statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. 

New Democracy district secretary Potu Ranga Rao said people

of Telangana were once again deceived by the Centre. He termed the formation of the Srikrishna panel as part of a dilatory tactics being adopted by the Centre.
