Telugu Desam Legislature Party deputy leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday apologised to Deputy Speaker N Manohar as floor leaders from all the parties found fault with his remarks, attributing motives to the Speaker's chair during the discussion on violence on Osmania University campus on Feb 14 and 15.
Janardhana Reddy lost his temper when the Deputy Speaker asked him to restrict himself while seeking clarifications on the statement made by Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on the violence and alleged ''regional bias'' on the part of Deputy Speaker.
He had earlier refused to apologise for the remarks but did so after floor leaders of various parties found fault with his remarks.
Earlier, the Home Minister had said the government would not withdraw cases against students agitating for a separate Telangana state until ‘peace returns’, despite pressure from the Opposition to do so.
She appealed to all parties to ensure that peace returns to the state. Replying to clarifications sought by members after her statement on the violence at the Osmania University on Feb 14 and 15, she wanted all parties to ensure that ''peace returns. Once peace returns, cases registered against the students will be examined''.
