Terming Pranab Mukherjee’s budget as a budget for the rich, Telugu Desam party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu said on Friday there is nothing in the Budget which can help the poor man.

Commenting on the shortcomings of the budget, Naidu averred ``the agriculture sector was neglected, and there is nothing new in the budget for the farmer. ’’

``Education too was ignored in this budget and no mention was  made about Swaminathan Committee’s  report ,’’ Chandrababu added.

CPM state secretary BV Raghavulu dismissed it in one sentence saying it is an anti-poor budget.

``In its endeavour to bring the much-needed  relief to the common man, the budget could offer nothing to them,’’ Lok Satta chief Jaiprakash Narayan said.

In his bid to raise the growth rate and minimise inflation rate, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has done a good job, JP opined.

Referring to the agriculture sector, he said  ``on paper, it seems to be okay, but how far it is feasible and how the benefits will reach the genuine farmer is a big question mark.’’

Regarding the hike in fuel prices, he said  it is inevitable.
