``In the name of consensus and committee don’t prolong the Telanangana issue further and make every effort to find a lasting solution to the Telangana issue , said Prof Kodandaram, convener of the Telangana political Joint Action Committee here on Saturday.
Commenting on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh‘s statement that a consensus is must for the bifurcation of the state, Kodandaram said, `` it is unfortunate that Manmohan made such a statement. He recalled Aritcle -3 of the Constitution according to which the Centre has the right to carve out separate state even without any consensus.
He once again stressed the need to evaluate the answer sheets of intermediate students in their respective regions.
Of late, the convener of JAC, Kodandaram seems to be keeping aloof from Telangana Rashtra Samiti. In the last couple of day he virtually kept himself away from the meetings or functions convened by the TRS leaders.
According to the close TRS circles , Kodandaram had differences with TRS leaders regarding the choice of candidates for the ensuing Assembly by-elections. Just a couple of days back, the convener along with the Osmania University students met the TRS leaders in this regard. However, the TRS leaders including KCR turned down Kodandaram's request.
The professor requested the TRS leaders to boycott the Srikrishna panel but his request has been set aside and K Chandrasekhar Rao made a U turn on this. The TRS is now cooperating with the Sri Krishna panel.
