Praja Rajyam Party MLAs under the leadership of their president K Chiranjeevi on Tuesday staged dharna in front of Vidyut Soudha, Somajiguda, in the city protesting against erratic power cuts in the state.
They protested against the frequent unannounced power cuts in the city, which had affected students, who are preparing for their annual examinations. Not only the students even the farmers are suffering heavily and also the industrial units.
Chiranjeevi pointed out that power cuts could be avoided completely, if the authorities concerned were able to prevent power thefts and containing distribution losses. He urged the officials to make efforts for uninterrupted power supply to the farmers and for domestic purposes.
After staging dharna, the MLAs submitted a memorandum to AP Transco officials urging them to take steps for overcoming the power shortage problem.
After submitting memorandum to officials, while he was returning in a lift, Chiranjeevi was held up in the lift for some time due to power failure. However Chiranjeevi was baled out of the lift in a couple of minutes.
Meanwhile, the Telangana employees in the AP Transco demanded Chiranjeevi to make his stand clear on Telangana issue. They found fault with Chiranjeevi decision extending support to integrated Andhra Pradesh agitation.
