Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas met All-India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday and held discussions with her for over 30 minutes. What could the 30-minute talk mean to DS or for the Party's prospects in the state?
The Congress Party has not yet finalised its report on Telangana, which is to be submitted to the Srikrishna panel. Against this backdrop, the meeting is very crucial for the Congress leaders of Telangana. However, nothing is known about what actually transpired between the two regarding the Congress report over Telangana.
The other issues which figured in the discussions include three MLC seats in Rangareddy and Hyderabad and the ensuing Assembly bypolls for the 12 seats from Telangana.
The filling up of nominated posts to various state government institutions like cooperative banks and corporations also figured during the talks.
The meeting with Sonia assumes significance for the fact that Srinivas is trying hard to get the AICC's approval for an entry into the Legislative Council from the Hyderabad Local Authorities Constituency. Not to be outdone, former minister Md. Shabbir Ali is also lobbying here for the very seat DS is aspiring to. In view of these facts, the meeting is considered vital.
