Yash Raj Films earlier slapped copyrights case against the makers of Siddharth, Samantha's Jabardasth. Sometime back Akash too alleged that Puri Jagannath-Ram's iSmart Shankar story belongs to him.

Now Chinni Kumar, writer cum director from Telangana, lodged a complaint at Telangana Writers Association that Vijay's Bigil (Whistle) makers developed their story taking the main point from his story. However, makers of Bigil are yet to react on this.

What makes everyone wonder is why the makers are not reacting to these copyright and plagiarism allegations. Some feel the makers are wantonly propping plagiarism controversies as a part of their promotions. Others say even if there is the truth, only strong content will decide the fate of the film.
