Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Monday indicated that Planning Commission members would visit Andhra Pradesh on May 12 and May 13 to study the implementation of the Rajiv Arogyasri Health Insurance Scheme.

Arogyasri is the brainchild of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy which benefitted 2.6 crore people below poverty line in the state, Rosaiah told newsmen after laying stone for several developmental programmes.

“The Plan panel members would study the implementation of Arogyasri scheme and discuss with officials concerned. The Centre has sent the team as it wants to implement the scheme in some other states,” he pointed out.

Reiterating that the government was providing corporate medical treatment free of cost to the poor suffering from heart, kidney, brain and other serious health problems, he said the government would continue all schemes introduced by YSR.

Rosaiah said he has no regional feelings and he does not belong to any region. He said he would act above all regions. He said he would obey the Centre’s directions like a sepoy in army.

He said the Congress had revived the Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme, which was scrapped by Telugu Desam government.

Allaying the fears of the local students, the Chief Minister said he would retain Medak district under the Osmania University control only.
