Hitting out at the Congress, Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu has lamented that the last six years of Congress rule has only helped the party leaders while the farmers were left to their fate-- a perennial penury.
Interacting with the media after inspecting the stacked paddy at the Mirayalguda Markertyard on Thursday Naidu observed, ``the Congress rule in the state had ruined the agriculture economy. There is rampant corruption in high places and there is need to cleanse the Government of its dirt.''
``The Congress Government did not deal with the major issues like the seeds subsidy, remunerative prices for farmers, and exploitations of the traders and middlemen,’’ the TDP chief noted.
Expressing concern over the plight of the farmers, he flayed the Congress for going back on its word, which it made before going to the elections.
The TDP will stand by the farmers during this crisis and will see to it that the Government pays the minimum support price for the crops.
``I will tour not only Nalgonda but all the districts of Andhra Pradesh for the farmers. I already toured Guntur and Prakasham districts,’’ he explained.
``The Government has forgotten the welfare of the farmers. This is really very sad,’’ the former chief lamented.
