Hyderabad, Aug 20 : To control the rising prices of essential commodities in the market, the state government will convene a meeting with all rice millers, wholesale dealers, oil millers, civil supply and revenue officials on August 25, stated Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president D Srinivas here on Thursday.
Talking to media persons, after paying rich tributes to the former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi to mark his birth anniversary, he said that the meeting would discuss various steps and ways to be taken to tackle the prevailing drought in the state.
The PCC would convene meetings with district committee leaders on the prevailing drought situation in the district on August 26. The Congress Legislature Party will also convene a meeting with all MLAs on August 27 at Gandhi Bhavan to prepare a draft report on drought.
AICC president Sonia Gandhi had made some proposals to tackle drought in the state, he said. On the lines of suggestions made by Sonia Gandhi, the government would prepare an action plan to tackle drought in the state.
He called upon the party workers to create awareness on pandemic swine flu among people in the state.
