The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) is seriously contemplating an alliance with the Congress at all levels.According to PRP supremo K Chiranjeevi, the party will continue its alliance with the Congress in a phased manner. He said the Praja Rajyam is considering to tie-up with the Congress in the local body elections initially. However, Chiranjeevi intends to discuss this issue with his party seniors before taking any decision on it.
Chiranjeevi, the actor-turned-politician, who came here to participate in a meeting of Polavaram oustees, said the party’s topmost priority is to solve the evacuees' problems.
He said he would raise the oustees' problems with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and seek a reasonable compensation for their lands and properties, which face the threat of submergence once the in the irrigation project comes up.
He said he would also focus his attention on solving the farmers’ problems as they lose their livelihood due to the irrigation project.
He also criticized the Centre for hiking petrol prices at a time when the prices of essential commodities is touching the roofs. He urged the government not to increase the prices of petroleum products as it would burden the middle class and the poor people.
