Prohibition on sale of liquor impossible: JC

With Lok Satta Party activists intensifying their protests against liquor auctions in the state, senior leader of Congress party J C Diwakar Reddy on Monday made a startling revelation “It is impossible to prohibit the sale of liquor in the state”.

Talking to reporters, he said “anywhere across the world, the prohibition on sale of liquor imposed by various governments, have failed to implement it in letter and spirit.”

Reiterating that the Rosaiah government did no mistake in conducting auction for liquor shops across the state, he said the Union Health Ministry had indicated that States could be compensated if they lost revenue by restricting liquor consumption.

 "He said the government has not violated the excise law and not granted  permission to any illegal liquor outlets during auctions.
