CM to flag off blood transportation vans on June 14

Chief Minister K Rosaiah will flag off 20 blood transportation vans to mark World Blood Donor Day on June 14.

 According to a press release issued by Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society on Saturday, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the vans bought at a cost of Rs 300 lakh to provide `safe blood’ to needy people.

 The press note said the transportation vans will ensure availability of safe and tested blood and blood products across the state and link up blood availability network.

 In the districts, the blood transportation vans will be under control of district collectors, who deploy them to collect blood through voluntary blood donation camps in remote and far flung areas and supply blood to needy.

 The Blood Donar Day -2010 focuses on promoting voluntary blood donation and encourages young donors to donate blood with the slogan `New blood for the world’.
