Rosaiah inaugurates Panchayati Raj meet

The Panchayati Raj system will play a crucial role in extending the benefits of the welfare schemes to the targeted sections of people, stated Chief Minister K Rosaiah.

Inaugurating a two-day Panchayati Raj meet for representatives at Acharya NG Ranga University at Rajendranagar, he said sarpanches play a crucial role in the Panchayat Raj system in extending government's welfare scheme to the people.

The Chief Minister called upon the sarpanches to discharge their constitutional duties properly while fighting for their rights.

Rosaiah asked the sarpanches to directly interact with the villagers about their problems and try to resolve them. He called upon panchayat members to maintain hygiene in villages and ensure clean drinking water supply to all.

He asked the villagers to strengthen the panchayati raj system in the state without bothering about the parties’ interference in the villages’ development.

The two days sammelan would discuss devolution of powers to panchayats and elicit the opinion of leaders on the amendment to 73 Constitutional Bill.In the conference, nearly 900 panchayti raj members from village level to ZP chairpersons participated.
