Rajanikanth says no to politics

Film star Rajanikanth had negated the idea of joining politics. The popular star who turned 62 yesterday said that he has no political affiliations.

He rejected the offer of fans who asked him to float a political party. I am not interested in politics, he politely told at a function the fans organized to celebrate his birthday last night. “What I need is your blessings and I am grateful to you all,” he told the fans.

Tamil politics is studded with film personalities for a long period. It was MGR, the actor and M Karunanidhi the writer who succeeded Anna Durai and held their sway from 1960s relegating Congress to backwaters. After MGR’s death, it was Jayalaithaa who stepped into MGR’s shoes and of late Vijaykant made his presence.

Kama Hasan the other super star with a large following said that he is not interested in politics long back and with Rajanikant also saying no, it is between an ailing Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa that the filmi  politics will rest by.
