NTR Too, Could Not Save Mythological Trend!

During the golden era of tollywood( 1950s and 60s) tollywood witnessed the successes of all genres of movies which also included mythological movies. However, it is of the common belief that the trend of mythological movies has been ended with late Ntr. However, looking into the history of 82 years tollywood, it can be understood that the trend of mythological movies was ended in 70s itself. Even late Ntr also could not score mythological hits after 'Danaveerasoora Karna', which was released on 14th January, 1977. Perhaps, change of interests of audiences was the reeason for the disappearance of mythological movies now.

After 'DVS Karna', Ntr's mythological movies such as, 'Srirama Pattabhishekam', 'Srimadvirataparvam', 'Sri Tirupathi Venkateswara Kalyanam', 'Brahmarshi Viswamithra' etc. failed at the box office. Other genes of movies such as 'Rajaputra Rahasyam'( floklore), Simhabaludu'( folklore), 'Samrat Ashoka'( historical),'Srinadha Kavi Sarvabhouma'( historical) etc. were also bombed at the box office. However, 'Sri Madvirat Pothuluri Veerabrahmendraswamy Charithra'( historica and devotional) scored big success at the box office.
