'Srimanthudu' Collections To Drop, Why?

The self immolation of Congress activist Muni Koti fighting for Andhra Pradesh special status triggered a new phase of movement in peoples struggle against ruling TDP and BJP Governments. CPI’s call for a state wide bandh today received straight support from Congress, YSRCP, CPM, student unions and many NGOs. Accordingly, students and colleges will remain closed for today to mount the pressure on Centre.

According to latest information from media circles, cinema theaters in Vijayawada, Tirupathi, Nellore, Vizag, Guntur and other big towns are to be remained closed for morning, matinee shows. Except ‘Srimanthudu’ there is no big film screened in two Telugu states. Although revenues for Mahesh Babu’s film might be encouraging in Telangana state today, there could be a drop in revenues in Andhra Pradesh due to this Bandh call.

Depending upon intensity and sincerity of Bandh, theater owners can open ticket counters for evening first show and night second show. Either ways, the revenue loss of morning and matinee shows is sure a pricey affair when overall first week records are tallied. Distributors should be upset with the politics around Andhra Pradesh special status. Hope, there will be no further troubles in future for film business in AP.
