The Congress Party could not bounce back after the disastrous performance in 2014's general elections. The party should struggle harder to be rejuvenated and to gain people's faith. There was no much difference of vote shares for the BJP and the MIM parties comparing with previous civic polls.

Nevertheless, it was TDP which got shocking result in the polls. The party contested in 95 wards but won only one ward. In fact, the party's leadership pinned lot of hopes on winning considerable number of wards with the support of Settlers votes. Shockingly, Settlers unanimously chose TRS to cast their votes and took the TDP light despite the leadership of CBN's son Nara Lokesh. Analysts feel CBN's administration in AP as CM threatened the Settlers and so was their selection to the TRS. "Since the AP government failed to implement its election promises, Settlers might have lost faith on the TDP in GHMC polls," says an analyst.
