S Janaki Announces Retirement

Legendary singer S Janaki is one of the all time best singers of India. The singer has already sung 48,000 songs over a span of 60 years. One cannot forget the melody in her voice in the songs like 'Pagale vennela. Especially, Janaki lent her voice for wonderful melodies in the combo of Ilayaraja. 

S Janaki made her debut with a film 'Vidhiyin Vilayattu' released in 1957. She has recorded a lullaby 'Ammapoovinu' in Malayalam recently. Speaking on this occasion, S Janaki proclaimed that it would be her last song and she would not sing any more including private functions. Moreover, she admitted that her age doesn't permit to sing her any more. This could be a disappointing news for S Janaki's fans. Yet, they can take immense pleasure listening to her mellifluous songs.
