The Apex Court's ruling on Wednesday shocked the movie patrons. The court has asked the cinemas to play the National Anthem before the movies are screened. "These days, people read things that have nothing to do with nationalism but don’t study material related to nationalism,” the court opined.
“A time has come the citizens of the country must realise that they live in a nation and are duty bound to show respect to National Anthem which is the symbol of the Constitutional Patriotism and inherent national quality,” it added.
However, there have been mixed responses on the court's order. Despite a few people welcomed the order of the Supreme Court, others afraid if all the sections of the films would obey the rules when National Anthem is played. "What if some of the people don't stand when the song is played? There should be a good number of theatre's staff to make all the audiences stand and respect our National Anthem when it is played in theater," says the people. Incidentally, National Anthem was played during 1950s and 60s post the screening of the movie. The practice was later stopped as no people payed attention during the play of the song then.
