Veteran Director LV Prasad was renowned for his evergreen classics. He never used to compromise an inch in his quest for perfection. He used to show the cast how to enact in each scene by acting to show the right kind of expressions and emotions.
LV Prasad used to practice various ways to get perfection from the actors. Janaki made her debut with Showkaru. In one scene Janaki should cry a lot. LV Prasad showed her how to act by performing the scene. Still Janaki couldn’t get the right kind of emotions. The director turned furious and went to the extent of beating her. He blasted her asking ‘Emmaa… Dabbullu Teesukodavam Leda? Freega natistunnava’. Janaki felt insulted and wept inconsolably and the scene came in a perfect manner.
Similarly in Appu Chesi Pappu Koodu, LV Prasad asked Ramanareddy to come up with an expression showing surprise and confusion after a dialogue. Ramanareddy failed to get that right despite repeated takes. LV Prasad lost his cool and warned “ choodavayya.. idi final shot. Nuvvu chesi teerali”.
After Ramanareddy completed the scene, LV Prasad placed his hands on his head and shouted “Ayyoo… Champesavayya”. Ramanareddy couldn’t understand and looked back at the director who was behind the camera. LV Prasad told cut and laughed heartily saying, “Nenu korina effect ippudu vachchindayya…”
These incidents prove how perfectionist LV Prasad was!
