Blockbuster Film Her Bad Luck

Atiloka Sundari Sridevi became an overnight star in Bollywood with Himmatwala. The film starring Jeetendra and directed by Raghavendra Rao turned out to be a sensational hit. Sridevi was one of the finest artists in India, but she mostly got glamorous roles in Bollywood.

Sridevi once revealed, “Directors and fans used to expect me to give natural performance in Tamil films. However Hindi film lovers expected me to see me in glamour roles. I tasted my first success with Himmatwala and later I played de-glam role in Sadma. But the film turned out to be a flop. Bollywood makers confined me to glamour roles but one day I will prove myself as an actress."

Sridevi later proved her acting prowess in several films like Mr India, Guru, Chandini, English Vinglish etc. Unfortunately, the actress breathed her last in a tragic manner in Dubai. Recently her elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor made successful debut with Dhadak and her younger daughter Khushi Kapoor too is expected to make her entry into films very soon.
