Senior director Mani Ratnam delivered a super hit with his last directorial Nawaab that starred Aravind Swamy, Simbhu, Vijay Antony and Vijay Sethupathy. The director is now working on a script of a period film to be made on a lavish budget.
Latest update is that, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are approached to play pivotal roles in the film. If Big B gives his nod, this will be his first association with Mani Ratnam. Aishwarya already worked with Mani Ratnam for Iddaru, Guru and Villain.
Simbu, Vikram, and Jayam Ravi are in talks for the film which is said to be the screen adaptation of Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan. AR Rahman will be scoring music while Jeyamohan will be penning dialogues.
Post Guru which was an above average grosser, Mani Ratnam made nearly half a dozenfilms which all ended as flops. He finally scored hit with Nawaab. More details about Mani Ratnam’s next period film will be unveiled after the director finalizes cast and crew.
