Ram Charan is in Sankranthi race this year with his mass action entertainer Vinaya Vidheya Rama. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the film is all set for a grand release worldwide on January 11th. Kiara Advani is the leading lady, while Prashanth, Aryan Rajesh and Vivek Oberoi will be seen in key roles.
This is the third time Ram Charan is in Sankranthi race. Earlier, he came up for the festival in 2013 and 2014 with films Naayak and Yevadu which both were commercial hits. Charan is hoping to complete hat trick of hits with Vinaya Vidheya Rama.
Interestingly, whenever Charan is in Sankranthi battle, his films are given second priority. Naayak had released alongside Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh’s highly anticipated multi starrer film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. Telugu movie buffs waited eagerly for SVSC as it happened to be first true multi-starrer after a long period. Fortunately, both SVSC and Naayak ended as hits.
Again in 2014 for Sankranthi, Mahesh Babu and Charan clashed at box office with their respective films 1-Nenokkadine and Yevadu. Nenokkadine directed by Sukumar was the high budgeted entertainer and buzz was extremely high on it. Although the film won critical accolades, it botched to impress audience. However, Vamsi Paidipally directed Yevadu that also starred Allu Arjun in a brief role turned out as winner of the Pongal that year.
For this Sankranthi, Charan will be competing with first part of Natasimha Balakrishna’s dream project NTR biopic titled NTR Kathanayakudu. Though prospects are encouraging for both the films, Telugus are giving prime priority to NTR biopic as they want to see unknown facts about legendary actor turned politician. Still, if Sankranthi sentiment works out, Charan will score another hit.
