Having pulverized many records at the box office arena, Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo created a rare feat of sorts. According to a theory, when a mass film and a family entertainer locked horns with each other in the same season, especially in Sankranthi, mass hits prove to be the highest grossers throwing family films to backseat. Here, the condition is that both mass films and family films should register hits at the box office. This theory can well be described with the following evidences.

* In 2003, mass hit Okkadu dominated family hit Pellam Oorelithey in collections.

* In 2010, decent mass hit Adhurs minted more collections than decent family hit Namo Venkatesa.

* In 2013, mass hit Naayak accumulated more collections in India than family hit SVSC.

Contrary to the above convention, family hit Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo beat the collections of mass hit Sarileru Neekevvaru. According to the trade reports, AVPL is running with a lead of Rs.12 crore overall share than SLN. And this lead is going to be increased towards the end of full run of both the films. Besides, AVPL registered solid blockbuster in Overseas while SLN is struggling to reach break even at the US box office.
