Actress Conditions For Chiru Irked Them

Mega Star Chiranjeevi starred in numerous super hit films. He is set to entertain movie lovers with his upcoming entertainer Acharya under the direction of Koratala Siva.

In the meantime, in a blast from the past, Paruchuri Gopala Krishna recollected the memories of Chiranjeevi's Kondaveeti Donga. The film directed by Kodandarami Reddy completed 30 years recently. The film featured Chiranjeevi romancing Vijayashanti, Radha while it had a star studded cast of Rao Gopala Rao, Sarada, Mohan Babu, Amrish Puri etc.

Paruchuri said, “We penned the story keeping Chiranjeevi and Sridevi in mind. At that time we did not have Sarada, Srividya, Radha and Vijayashanti in mind. When we narrated the story to producer Trivikrama Rao he liked it a lot. Chiranjeevi also loved the story and gave green signal. We went to Sridevi to narrate the story. Sridevi after listening to the story said 'Story is very good. However you should keep the title as 'Kondaveeti Rani.. Kondaveeti Donga' and then came with conditions that 'nenu hero venuka padatam kakunda hero ne naa venakala padali'."

Paruchuri continued “When I informed the same to Trivikram Rao, he did not agree. He said Chiranjeevi is a big star and if he runs around a heroine, then the story will be spoiled. Then we changed the entire story. Thus Sarada's role as mother, Vijayashanti as police, Radha, Srividya's roles were created. IAS officer turning a robber was a novel plot in the 80s.”
