HC Dismisses EM! But YCP Won't Give up!

In what could be said a huge setback for AP government is that the AP high court dismissed the G.Os 81 and 85 which pave the way for introduction of English Medium for 1 to 6 classes in the schools of all bodies in the state.

Dr Guntupalli Srinivas from Eluru filed  a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) a couple of days ago against the government's initiative. Post the hearing of the case, the HC dismissed the G.Os.

The YSRCP government, however, hasn't given up. The AP education minister Adimulapu Suresh made it clear that the government had taken the decision with the sole aim of offering quality education in English Medium to the poor and under privileged sections.

"A total of one lakh government teachers were trained to teach in English Medium. The students were offered a bridge course in order to let them cope with the change in medium. Also, Telugu was supposed to be made one of the compulsory subjects in the academics. Initially, we wanted to introduce English Medium from classes 1 to 6. By and large, one class each from 7 to 10 will be transformed into an English Medium class for every academic year," said the education minister adding that the government would move on to the Supreme Court if necessary."
