Coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown brought everything to a standstill. This increased the value of Ott platforms as for more than a month movie lovers who are deprived of entertainment are looking for the same in Otts. With lot of free time, they are watching 3-4 films every day.

They are not only enjoying Telugu movies, but also other language films. People like Dil Raju released old films and is earning good profits. Many expected small filmmakers to see the opportunity to release their films on Ott platforms as no one is sure when the lockdown ends and when theatres will open and even if theatres open, whether people will come to theatres to watch the films.

But it seems few actors like Ram, Raj Tarun, Anushka, Nani, Sudheer Babu, Pradeep Machiraju are underestimating and looking down Ott. They are thinking releasing their films on Ott is an insult. Ram made it clear that he will release his RED only in theatres. Raj Tarun also came with similar opinion. Anushka's Nishabdham filmmakers reacted strongly and questioned whether they made the film to release on Ott.

Few are angrily questioning whether they do not bother about the situation of the producers. Some say few producers are landing in huge losses due to Ott platforms. This is because Ott platforms are acquiring the rights of those dubbing films and those languishing in the labs for lesser rate and releasing on revenue sharing business. Trade analysts feel this is bringing losses to the producers as NRIs are not showing interest on these cheap films.

Dil Raju defending top stars for their views against Ott platforms said film viewing in theatres will give a different feel with grand visuals and excellent sound effects.
