Shakuntala Devi Trailer: Intriguing

Shankuntala Devi, who hailed from an orthodox Kannada Brahmin family of Bangalore, emerged as a human computer and was comfortably placed in the 1982's edition of Guinness Book of World Records. Her mysterious mental calculative power made her achieve such prodigious feat.

In the meanwhile, Bollywood, which habituated making biopics of preeminent personalities, hasn't left the opportunity of making a biopic on 'Math Genius'. The chance was grabbed by the director Anu Menon to helm the project under Sony Pictures Networks India.

The trailer of the film, that was unveiled on Wednesday, is intriguing with the blend of various emotions depicted artistically. Vidya looks gorgeous in protagonist Shakuntala Devi's getup. She is genius and equally bubbly though. When she delivers the solutions for even the toughest sums which are hardly done by the computers, great Mathematicians are dumbfounded with her strange calculative powers and hail her as 'Human Computer'.

If at all the trailer is packed just with the extraordinary skills of Shakuntala, it could have ended up a documentary. And the director is quite aware of this threat. As such, in order to ensure the film is a commercial potboiler, some family emotions are added which further make sure there is a touching melodrama on cards for this inspiring film. It seems there is a conflict between the characterizations of Shakuntala and her daughter and which forms the major substance of the second half.

By and large, Shakuntala Devi is a film full of fun, entertainment, and emotion. Apparently, it's a must watch film.

Since the coronavirus pandemic gripped the entire world and has made many lives devastated, cine industry has also turned into one of the most affected industries. The film, which was supposed to hit screens in maximum numbers, is releasing on OTT platform Amazon Prime on 31st of July. Don't miss it.
