For a theatrical or digital release, promotions play key role. Though same aggressive promotions are not required for digital release, minimum publicity is needed for movie buffs to know about the film and where it will be streaming. Bollywood filmmakers are opting for massive promotions for Ott releases, whereas Tollywood filmmakers turning irresponsible in promoting their movies.
Actually, Telugu actors and filmmakers go for vigorous promotions, few days prior to and few days after the theatrical release of their films. But, they are not doing the same for digital release. They are behaving as if their job is done after closing deals with Ott players.
While few filmmakers are releasing their films all of the sudden, without prior information, few others are stopping their promotional activities after their films hit Ott platforms.
Krishna And His Leela falls into first category, wherein Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya falls in second category. While Ravikanth Parepu directorial was released without prior announcement, there are absolutely no promotions for Venkatesh Maha directed film.
It’s better, Ott players should come up with a clause making actors and filmmakers to promote their films at least for one week, before and after release of their movies.
