Till recently movie lovers used to look at Hollywood for thrillers of any genre be it psycho, spy or psycho horror. However Indian film industry underwent lot of transformation over the passage of time. Now even regional industries are coming with thrillers and Tollywood is not an exception. This genre is becoming the new hit formula in Tollywood. Filmmakers here are coming up with more thriller films and of them most are sequels.

All the new directors like RJS Swaroop of Agent Sai Srinivas Atreya, Prashanth Varma of Awe, Sasikiran Tikka of Goodhachari, Sailesh Kolanu of HIT are planning sequels. Bellamkonda Srinivas got a good break with Rakshasudu. Though it is a Tamil remake of Ratchasan, Ramesh Varma turned it into a psycho thriller. Sailesh Kolanu impressed all with the thriller HIT. Nani produced the film with Vishwak Sen in the lead. Now the makers are planning a sequel for the film. While the first case revolved around a missing girl, second case will have more interesting case. Even the untouched Vishwak Sen’s flashback episode will also be revealed.

Prashanth Varma attracted the attention of the entire nation with Awe. The psychological thriller stunned all. Now he is coming up with a sequel titled Awe 2. He is currently doing a film with the backdrop of coronavirus. Sasikiran Tikka impressed with Goodhachari with Adivi Sesh on debut. The film has a sequel Goodhachari 2 but this time another new director Rahul Pakala will be directing it.

Generally dealing with thrillers and that too coming with sequels is quite risky. This because thriller genre has limited and targeted viewers. But the makers are concentrating on this genre as one can come with interesting films with in limited budget. The moment target viewers like it, they can easily reach the breakeven and so producers are getting attracted to it. However if the story is not strong and twists do not attract viewers, then they will be in for a shock.
