Crossover film Nishabdham starring Anushka and Madhavan released recently on Amazon Prime Video to lukewarm response. One wonders after watching the film why taking USA backdrop and choosing a Hollywood star actor, when it’s not compulsion.
They opine the film can be made comfortably in any Hill Station in India and any known Telugu actor would be apt for the role played by Michael Madsen. These two wrong decisions cost a bomb for the actual investor TG Vishwa Prasad.
Popular writer Kona Venkat stopped writing scripts and instead he has turned a presenter for films for which he is acting as mentor for script writing and making. If his job is restricted for script, that would have been fine. But, he is said to be changing backdrop of films and is allegedly taking decisions on selection of actors, locations etc.
Initially, director Hemant Madhukar planned to make Nishabdham as Telugu-Tamil bilingual. But, Kona is said to have suggested to make the film is USA with all popular actors. What’s more, he allegedly changed the film to crossover project and then roped in a Hollywood actor.
Earlier as well, Kona Venkat changed backdrop of Ninnu Kori from Vizag to USA. When Shiva Nirvana penned the script, Vizag was the backdrop of the film. But, Kona changed the subject in a way that second half story is shifted to USA.
Thankfully, Ninnu Kori turned out to be a super hit. But, that’s not the case with Nishabdham. While Ninnu Kori had an intriguing setup, the film could attract major sections, Nishabdham lacked freshness in story and screenplay. Better not to talk about Hemant’s direction abilities. The film wouldn’t have worked out, even if it was made alone in Telugu. But, losses with the project would have been minimal.
