When Rajamouli announced NTR, Ram Charan multi starrer RRR release date as October 13, movie lovers got excited. This happened after Irish actress Alison Doody, two days before revealed the release date as Oct 8. Many felt that RRR makers postponed the release as James Bond film No Time To Die is releasing on 8 October.
But now this resulted in a virtual clash between RRR and Ajay Devgan's Maidaan. Producer Boney Kapoor is upset with the announcement completely as Maidaan release date was announced longtime back. Ajay Devgan is in a fix as he is starring in both RRR and Maidaan and the two are releasing during Dussehra.
RRR producer DVV Danayya says he has been under immense pressure from the distributors. Some North distributors and filmmakers say distributors cannot pressurize filmmakers that too they can’t increase any pressure on Rajamouli. Ajay Devgan is said to have made Boney Kapoor and Rajamouli speak to each other but Rajamouli hung the phone upsetting Boney terribly.
Some North makers say Rajamouli should be thankful to Boney Kapoor and his film Magadheera was an unofficial remake of Boney Kapoor's Prem which released in 1995 but didn't take any legal action.
Some senior producers and distributors say in the film industry there is no love lost and only business matters. They say RRR makers are keen to have Dussehra release as it is important season down south unlike North where Diwali is considered an important season. They say even earlier there were instances when films of top stars released on the same date.
