Viewers were genuinely surprised to see Maa Bhumi, Manchu Pallaki actor Sai Chand return to Fidaa in 2017 essaying a wonderfully etched role of a doting father. Offers haven’t stopped coming his way since the success of the film but the veteran actor has remained choosy about his roles. The actor took almost a couple of years to do his next film, Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy, in the role of an elderly farmer that yet again earned him credibility. The fact that he gave up many other offers just to maintain his look for the film truly showed the dedication he had for the role.

In 2021, Sai Chand has as many as four films lined up for release – Vaishnav Tej Panja debut film Uppena, Chandrasekhar Yeleti’s Check, Venu Udugula’s Virata Parvam and Krish’s adaptation of the award-winning Telugu novel Kondapolam. All films are as diverse as chalk and cheese and we can safely confirm that the actor’s slow-and-steady approach has paid off well.

While in Uppena he plays a folk artist, Check has him play an inmate of Nithiin. Virata Parvam will see him unite with Sai Pallavi for the second time, where he’s cast in the role of her on-screen father. “I have had several offers to play the stereotypical father roles ever since Fidaa happened. I wanted to break the mould and do different roles and I am happy with the variety I’ve got in the films. Chandrasekhar Yeleti gave me a very interesting role that I couldn’t say no to,” Sai Chand adds. Meanwhile, the actor is in talks for a Malayalam film remake that’s set to go on floors soon.
