Child actor-turned-lead actress, prominent politician Kushboo has always called spade a spade and minces no words in most of her interviews. The actress who was all set to be launched as a lead actress with a Boney Kapoor-produced Hindi film in the 80s instead opted for K Raghavendra Rao’s Kaliyuga Pandavulu for her debut, which in turn cemented her authority in South Indian cinema. While Kushboo actively did Telugu movies till the early 90s, she opted to stay in Chennai when the Telugu film industry gradually began shifting to Hyderabad.
The actress, who went on to marry filmmaker C Sundar in 2000, shared an interesting post about their love proposal on her Instagram on Monday. Accompanied by a picture of the two, the post read, “It's been 26 yrs since you proposed to me. Don't know what made me say yes then immediately. At times decision made on your gut feel are the best.. i am glad I did. You complete me my love. Happy 26” (sic)
The proposal was very sudden and although Kushboo said yes, it immediately didn’t result in a marriage. Director C Sundar narrating the incident in a recent interview told, “Kushboo was a girl who was used to a certain standard of living and I was only growing as a filmmaker then. I told her that I would marry her only when I could afford her lifestyle and I didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable in the marriage. Only after I bought a huge property, we got married.”
The couple had its share of tiffs during the period between the proposal and marriage, but they held onto each other during their highs and lows and are parents to two grown-up girls now. A cute little love story, ain’t it?
