Nani has always been a hit with audiences for his smart choice of scripts and relatable performances. He has been remarkably consistent in his 12-year-old career and has shown impressive taste as a producer too. If there’s one complaint against Nani all these years, it’s the lack of experimentation with his looks. Devadasu, Jenda Pai Kapiraju and V have been rare examples where there’s been considerable variation in his appearances.

Now, thankfully, Shyam Singha Roy, whose first look released yesterday, makes it to this select list of films that have presented Nani in a unique avatar. Sporting a handlebar (rounded) moustache with well-combed hair in a retro look amidst a West Bengal backdrop, the first look made an impression immediately. A good visual appearance is half the job done in creating hype for the film and Nani has perhaps understood this well.

Shyam Singha Roy is touted to be a reincarnation story with a supernatural twist, spanning across multiple timelines and should be a welcome change for Nani after a traditional family entertainer like Tuck Jagdish in April. The pairing with in-form actresses like Sai Pallavi and Krithi Shetty is a perfect bonus to the Rahul Sankrityan-directorial, whose both films, The End and Taxiwaala enjoyed commercial succes
