Actors vs Critics: who will tame whom

Actors vs critics

Actors versus critics debate have been going on for decades ever since critics started analyzing and pinpointing the highs and lows of the films. In the olden days, Actors used to take criticism in a constructive manner and try to improve their skills, and the makers used to come with many improved films correcting their mistakes.

But in the recent past, not all but many Actors and filmmakers started attacking the critics and film analysts blaming and accusing them of killing their films on the release date itself. Many young and upcoming Actors started targeting the critics even before the release of their films.

This made people wonder whether the Actors are trying to intimidate and influence their film's analysis in one way or the other. Earlier Vijay Devarakonda used to show his attitude after scoring few hits but later he got shocks with his last few films turning out to be average grosser. Vishwak Sen who had only one decent hit targeted critics even before his recent release.

What defied logic and what the filmmakers and Actors are missing is irrespective of the ratings and analysis of the films, if the content and story are strong, none can prevent it from becoming a hit. Even if critics give a film with no strong story around 3 ratings, people will reject it outright and word of mouth spreads faster than the Vijay Devarakonda written by the analysts, posted on the websites, and published in the newspapers.

A reviewer or a website will lose credibility if a review is not genuine and none of them would like to suffer because of it. So instead of blaming and accusing the critics of killing the films, the so-called Actors and the makers can concentrate on coming with good stories with powerful content. Only a few like Ram Charan, NTR, Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, and from the seniors Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Pawan Kalyan, and Balakrishna remained grounded and humble and corrected the mistakes of their films to score hits continuously instead of being young heroes who behave like superstars with just one average hit and tend to be arrogant and attack critics coming out with mediocre films.
