Legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at 8:12 am on 6 February, 2022 at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. She was 92. She was admitted in Breach Candy Hospital after she was being contracted with the dreaded Covid pandemic. From then on, the doctors strived hard with all their efforts to save her life but in vain.
Acclaimed as a Nightingale of India and Queen of Melody, Lata served the music industry for 70 long years. She lent her voice for more than 50000 songs. She found a place in 'The Guinness Book of World Records' in 1974 itself for crooning more than 25000 songs by then.
Lata made film debut as a singer with a 1942's Marathi film 'Kiti Hasaal' in which she crooned the song 'Nachu Ya Gade'. Her first HIndi song was recorded in the next year for the film Gajaabhaau. ‘Mata Ek Sapoot Ki Duniya Badal De Tu' was the first Hindi song of Lataji.
Lata Mangeshkar is the recipient of India's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna. She was conferred with Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1989 and Padma Vibhushan in 1999. Lataji was also adjudged France' highest civilian honour 'Legion of Honour' in 2006.
Lata Mangeshkar's thousands of melodies make her stand eternal among people's hearts. Cinejosh is extremely saddened with the demise of the all time great singer of India. May her soul rest in peace!
