Many times it has been proved that filmmakers cannot take people for a ride. Those associated in the industry often question and underestimate the intelligence of movie lovers. They are under the delusion and under the impression that they can fool movie lovers. That is the reason when a story in a particular genre in any language creates a sensation, the makers try to emulate the same in the name of the trend. On one or two occasions, they may taste success but trying to do it repeatedly will only test the patience of the viewers, who outright start rejecting the stuff.

Following the sensation of Rajamouli's Baahubali, the makers from other languages tried to do the same. Kollywood came with Puli, Bollywood burnt hands with Thugs of Hindostan, Prithviraj, Shamshera, and many while Mollywood tested its luck with Marakkar but none of the films made an impression. Following the success of KGF and KGF2 which featured dark shades and scenes, Kichcha Sudeep tested his luck with Vikrant Rona which got adverse reports. Following the success of Pushpa, many in Tollywood started coming out with films on red sandalwood smuggling. Today's Ramarao On Duty dealt with the same but it was a disaster.

This shows that the makers just by including a plot of a successful film, cannot create wonders at the box office. They should realize that only a strong story, emotional connection, and characterization plays important role in the film's performance at the box office. If they fail to realize, that the makers and Tollywood stars continue doling with similar content, they will get more such shocks in future.
