Mass Audience n Question Mark Faces @ Robot

A brilliant technician, wonderful vision, mind blowing imagination, spectacular execution…so many words to describe Shankar as done earlier and still continued doing by all kinds of media.  Of course Shankar has mastered the commercial formulas of a present day cinema and he knows where to press the heart button of audience to create a deep impact.

One of the peculiar observations by a Software Engineer about ‘Robot’ is that a mere 5 to 10% of the mass audiences are laughing at the jokes or able to understand the dialogues designed in more of technical jargon by Shankar. Situational comedy and dialogues with usage of words like Robot Sapiens, Version 2.0, Trojan, Reverse Mapping, AndroHumanoid Robot, Neural Schema, Approval for Patents, Asimo Standards, Fibonacci Series, Prime Numbers, various Medicine based terms… still so many. Remaining 90 to 95% are coming with question mark faces staring at that 5%.

When core technical content of the movie is meant to educate the common audience, digest and think about, ‘Robot’ is for sure failing in that aspect. It is grandeur on the canvass and few sensitive movements which are making ‘Robot’ work wonders at BO. Either way heavy technicality may not work again and again the same way like ‘Robot.’ Lucky that Shankar and Sun have come out of this dangerous situation. Still, they are appreciable for this novel attempt to raise the standards of Indian movie making.
