An inspector from Kurnool district in the Rayalaseema region, Mr Surender, on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission that the DGP was standing in his way to get a promotion that is long over due for him. Mr Surender said in his complaint that he was enrolled into the police force as a Reserve Sub-Inspector (RSI) in 1982 and subsequently promoted as Inspector in 1990.

As many of his juniors were promoted to higher posts subsequently, he moved the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal which has recently delivered its order clearing the way for his promotion. After the tribunal order, none other than the Chief Minister has cleared his promotion but the DGP, Mr Yadav, had not honoured the orders, he told media persons after lodging his complaint with the Human Rights Commission.

“I have made several appeals to the DGP to honour the tribunal directive. But he never heard my appeal,” he said. Disgusted at the behaviour of the DGP and the ill-treatment that has been meted out to him, he approached the rights panel and filed the complaint on Saturday, he explained.

Only a fortnight ago, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Mahboobnagar district, Mr Madhav Reddy, knocked at the doors of the Human Rights Commission complaining against the DGP’s ‘ill-treatment’ towards him. The DSP complained that the DGP was subjecting him to harassment and did not give him posting for 20 months and had even stopped payment of his salary.

Responding to the appeal, the rights panel had ordered the DGP to give him posting and also clear all his salary dues. The DSP has since been given posting and his salary dues are also paid to him.
