The Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OU SJAC) on Monday gave a call for ‘Hyderabad Bandh’ on Tuesday in protest against the arrest of aspirants to the posts of Sub-Inspectors at the Director General of Police Office on Monday.

Condemning the arrest of SI posts aspirants, JAC leaders said they would not allow the conduct of test in the state until the government makes its stand clear on free zone issue.

Demanding the release of arrested aspirants, they said though Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy belonged to Telangana region, she has become a mute spectator and has not taken any decision on declaring Hyderabad as a ‘no-free zone’ and include it in VI zone.

The JAC members demanded resignation of Home Minister from her post following her failure to take any decision on the issue. The JAC leaders said that the government should be held responsible for Monday’s incident.

The JAC members sought the cooperation of all leaders for the bandh and make it a grand success. They said they would boycott schools and colleges in Hyderabad and stage rallies, dharnas as part of bandh.

Greater Hyderabad Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader Ramesh and JAC spokesperson Krishank were present. Meanwhile the all-party delegation and Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers have extended their support to OU JAC bandh. 

Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao on Monday met Home Minister Sabitha Indra reddy and briefed her over situation in Osmania University campus. He is reported to have told the Home Minister that the situation is very much under control.
