New Delhi, July 18 :-
India will make its entry into the elite club of countries which have capabilities to develop nuclear submarines by this month end. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will launch India’s novel indigenous nuclear-powered submarine at Vishakapatnam on July 26, according to a press release here on Saturday.
During the launching of submarine , a number of high level Defence and Navy officials along with the chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will be present to grace the occasion.
Code-named Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV), India has been quite secretive about its nuclear submarine project.
The nuclear submarine will be named as INS Arihant (destroyer of enemies).
The sea trial of INS Arihant which is 7,000-tonne will be conducted in the Bay of Bengal off Vishakapatnam, where the vessel was built.
Once the nuclear-submarine is inducted, India will join the elite league of countries the US, Russia, France, and China which have capabilities to develop nuclear submarines.
