Girl students attempt suicide....

Rajahmundry, Sept 16 :

 Forty girl students of Lutheran Junior college in Rajahmundry in East Godavari district are reported to have attempted suicide on Wednesday owing to the sexual harassment of their college correspondent. According to the reliable sources, the condition of three students, who were undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital is stated to be serious.

On learning about the incident, an irate crowd that gathered at the college roughed up the Correspondent, Prasad for his alleged indecent behaviour with the students.
The girl students narrated the lewd behaviour of college correspondent to the police, which in turn swung into action and arrested Prasad under the
Protection against Sexual Harassment Act. Following the incident, tension prevailed at the Three Town Police Station as the parents and students staged an impromptu sit-in near the police station demanding stern action against the Correspondent.

When the TNN contacted the Minister for Primary Education Manikya Varaprasad over the incident, he said the government would take action against the guilty. He said he had directed the officials concerned to submit a report on the incident.
