SC Stay on Kasab Death Sentence

The cold blooded murderer and the man behind Mumbai attacks is Ajmal Kasab. His plea against death sentence has come to an unexpected ending with Supreme Court today issuing a stay order on Bombay High Court’s death sentence. 

Apex court stayed the order on grounds that, it could not be carried out till a hearing on Kasab’s appeal was completed. Giving top priority to Kasab’s hearing, a Bench of Justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana Prakash Desai said that final verdict on Kasab’s appeal would be pronounced on January 31.

They also issued notice to Maharashtra Government and amicus curie Raju Ramachandran to complete all the arguments before November 30. Kasab filed a petition in Supreme Court through jail authorities challenging the death sentence issued by Bombay High Court. 

Court has also mentioned this. ‘Kasab does not deserve further appeal and he does not deserve any further indulgence.’
