The top echelons of the Andhra Pradesh police has been shuffled on Wednesday. The controversial top police boss, the Director General of Police (Dgp), Mr SSP Yadav, has been shifted as the Managing Director of the Road Transport Corporation (RTC). As is expected, Mr Girish Kumar is replacing Mr Yadav as the Dgp. Along with him five other senior IPS officers have been shifted from their present postings.
Mr Yadav has been shifted as the Managing Director of the Road Transport Corporation (RTC). It is a demotion for Mr Yadav as the RTC MD’s post is the cadre of the Deputy Director General. However, official sources said that the post will now be upgraded till Mr Yadav holds it. He has only nine months to go for superannuation.
Mr Dinesh Reddy, who is currently in the post of the RTC MD, is shifted as the Director General of the Vigilance and Enforcement. Mr Jayachandra Reddy, who is now in the post, has been kept in vacancy reserve (VR), the term used in the top bureaucracy as the official not given any posting.
This is the first reshuffle of the top officials after the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, assumed charge in the State. The other senior IPS officers who were transferred from their present assignment are Mr Arvind Rao as the new Director General of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). He is now Intelligence chief. The new Intelligence chief is Mr Mahender Reddy.
Mr Mahender Reddy is currently Inspector General of Police (IGP) and he is now been promoted as the Director General of Police and retained in the same department.
All these appointments came into effect immediately and Mr SSP Yadav has already been relieved from the post of the Dgp. Mr Girish Kumar assumed charge as the new police boss.
