TDP accuses State of diverting SC, ST welfare funds

Tdp Mla Sandra Venkata Veeraiah on Thursday accused the State Government of diverting funds meant for the welfare of SC and STs for other purposes.

Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, Veeraiah alleged that the government had diverted huge funds allotted under SC/ST sub-plan for other programmes and departments. Of Rs 8,000 crores allotted for SC/STs welfare, he said that nearly Rs 5,000 crore have been diverted for other schemes.

Veeraiah demanded that the government appoint a nodal agency to look into execution of programmes and spending of funds meant for the SC/ST welfare. He called upon all SC/ST leaders, across party lines, to work for welfare and upliftment of communities in a unified manner.

Stating that SC/ST Ministers, MLAs and MLCs were not making sincere efforts to prevent the diversion of funds, he said that the leaders were concentrating more on getting the ministerial berths or other nominated posts instead of focusing on the welfare of the community.
