Devotees throng Kanakadurga temple

Vijayawada, July 24 :-

  Thousands of devotees thronged the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri hill here to offer worship to Goddess Kanakadurga, on Friday.

On the eve of first 'Sravan' Friday today, 'Lakshakumkumarchana' and 'Chandihomam' were performed.

Many women consider this day as most auspicious. Early in the morning , the devotees took a holy dip in river Krishna before offering their prayers to the  deity.

Apart from the prayers the devotees also offered 'Pongali' to Goddess, seeking her blessings.

The temple management has made elaborate arrangements and provided free meals ('Annadanam') to the poor.
